Art.Birthday 2023 – THE OF OF BIND OF IF PLAD

Tonight, on art´s birthday, Max, Frieda, Chris and I performed our very personal celebration at Studio Tokyo.
Max and Frieda were connected via video conference, while Chris and I tried to get a live stream going.

Unfortunately, we were plagued by technical shortcomings on the part of the transmitted sound quality and the high-pitched guests of our little stream hardly got to hear anything.

We showed our handmade miniatures for art´s birthday, made from keywords of past birthdays with the help of an artificial intelligence that translated our words into graphics. Fortunately, at least the sounds of the miniatures were audible in the stream. All the sounds of the one-minute miniatures were accompanied by sounds that Chris and I had recorded especially for them.

“The title “THE OF OF BIND OF IF PLAD / JAMORIES” is a reference to the concept of the “Art’s Birthday,”which was first proposed by artist Robert Filliou in 1963 as part of the Fluxus art movement.

The idea behind the “Art’s Birthday” is that art, like any living organism, has a birthdate and continues to evolve and change over time. Filliou’s original concept was to celebrate the “birthday” of art on January 17th, the date of the first recorded use of the word “art” in human history. The title “THE OF OF BIND OF IF PLAD / JAMORIES” is a play on the idea of the “birth” of art and the word “bind” which refers to the connection, the relationship and the continuity in art.”

Art´s Birthday Preparations – What we do yet.

Preparations for this year´s Art´s Birthday on January 17th are running hot right now. We from Pomodoro Bolzano are fiddling with sent voices, words and rhythms for the hopefully great celebration and online-live event via video-stream next monday.

Today we released a little sneak preview of possible results just on SoundCloud. Feel free to listen inside the three variations of our groovy beat-mesh.

Art´s Birthday 1000058

This years Art´s Birthday “OPERA BILITY” was entirely virtual performed and realized. Location for the event was our parcel at Odyssey in Second Life. A meeting room on Zoom offered another access to the party.

Frieda Kuterna aka Frieda Korda built a wonderful workshop replique at Odyssey and created a colorful cozy location for the birthday celebration.

The evening started relaxed and mostly quiet before artist SaveMe Oh showed up and rocked our party there for hours.

SaveMe Oh did a great show with all her visuals and breathtaking particles which filled the entire space.

The zoom-conference was streamed directly on a screen which was placed inside the workshop in Second Life. So the participants in-world were able to see what was ongoing in zoom at Real Life.

Our crowd of people was a pretty nice assortment of longtime residents from the virtual world and very appreciated at the party location.

Chris Wittkowsky aka Paco Mariani, Maxxo Klaar and Frieda Korda did gladly this wonderful screenshots during the entertaining event. In the meanwhile i was too busy by guiding the camera for our video-stream.

As last happening on this colorful, groovy evening, Blaise de La France performed a great synthesizer-performance for us, which gave the final blast to this art´s birthday.
