We Are All Frogs – In the Anthropocene, the Grosswetterlage is humanity itself
The general climate is stable yet unstable in all areas, and this is becoming increasingly pronounced. Terrestrial evolution is compulsively rushing forward at breakneck speed.
Future models and projections from the end of the last century and the early 2000s have long been overtaken by reality. But we still seem unwilling to accept that we are already in the midst of an accelerating climate catastrophe. Viewed from the outside, it seems that we can only maintain our rational, personal decisions with a healthy dose of hopium.
Yet it’s all pure physics.
We are all frogs.
For the third time, the Salon d’Automne will take place from October 8 to 11 in the pop-up space at Degginger, organized by the Regensburg media art group Pomodoro Bolzano in collaboration with artists from various fields.
Short but focused, the Salon offers a different perspective on contemporary artistic positions every day from Wednesday to Saturday. Over four days, we invite you to participate and interact: at a terrestrial opening (dress code: green), a multifaceted happening, a sensory get-together, and an organismic soirée.
Large-format, wildly proliferating images by Anna Eibl-Eibesfeldt transform the pop-up space into an art habitat in which the interactive installation Insight by Michaela Lautenschlager and Erna Oklapi, the original video work Gefühlte Entität (Felt Entity) by Thomas Bieniek, and the light object 4x5px by Ralf Maria Oberleitner develop a life of their own.
Salon d’Automne 2025 is kindly supported by the city of Regensburg as part of its annual theme “Großwetterlage” (General Weather Situation).
Private event – an organismic soirée in seven courses
Saturday, October 11, 2025, 7 p.m. / limited number of participants – registration required!

EXHIBITION
INSIGHT – Michaela Lautenschlager & Erna Oklapi // kybernetic installation with sensors

“Insight #3” transforms movement and sound into a sensual game of change that allows us to experience the transience of autumn. Between colors, sounds, and silence, a space opens up in which nature, art, and technology merge into one another.
GROSSWETTERLAGE – Anna Eibl-Eibesfeldt // painting

In a world that has gone off the rails, people are confronted with unpredictability and are increasingly aware of it. Natural phenomena such as floods and glacier melt are on the rise, and despite technological advances, the feeling of threat is growing. At the same time, the experience of rushing rivers or deserted mountain landscapes has a special beauty and grandeur that seems immeasurable in relation to humans. Using real and imagined images, the artist translates her current experiences into colorful paintings.

GEFÜHLTE ENTITÄT – Thomas Bieniek // video art

Throughout history, people have not only been bodies or members of a group. They see themselves and are perceived by others in such a way that images, ideas, and feelings arise. These self-images and images of others can be so powerful that they change history.

4x5px – get the picture? – Ralf M. Oberleitner RMO // light object

A grid of four by five light points forms a monochrome screen with a resolution at the lower end of what is still possible for graphic representation: 0.00002 megapixels.
The material shown varies greatly in terms of recognizability. Sequences of letters that form small messages and text fragments are still easy to decipher, while symbols, pictograms, and photorealistic images become indistinguishable from image noise as their complexity increases.
This brings us back to the broader picture of current technological developments, where increasing computing power and networking are making it possible to draw more and more conclusions from ever smaller data traces.
What do humans decode? What do the machines do?
Do you get the picture?
