On the first evening of the event series “Salon d’Automne 2023” Gisela Hahn and Michaela Lautenschlager presented their puzzling “Fundus Herbeus”.

The performers went out into the street, inspected the nearby surroundings collecting small pieces of garbage from the ground and transferred them into the installation´s transparent decomposting-spheres.

At the end, the artists recited from the book `Island´ by Aldous Huxley in the form of a canon.
“Do not look as a scientist, not even as a gardener. Free yourselves from all that you know, and regard this infinitely improbable thing before you in perfect ignorance. Look at it as if you had never seen anything like it in your life, as if it had no name and belonged to no recognizable species. Examine it attentively, but with restraint, with empathy, but without labeling or judging and comparing it.”

We experienced a very relaxed, well thought-out and aesthetically beautiful performance in which a technological-organic sculpture was completed and activated at the end.
